About

Ternopil National Medical University

Ternopil National Medical University, named after Ivan Horbachevsky, was established in 1957. It is a state medical university that operates under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Over the years, the university has grown into one of the leading medical institutions in the country, gaining recognition for its strong academic standards and modern facilities.

TNMU has several faculties, including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and a Faculty for International Students, as well as postgraduate training programs. Clinical training is carried out in affiliated hospitals across Ternopil and neighboring cities, giving students real world medical experience. In addition, the university has a modern simulation center that helps students practice and improve their medical skills before working with patients.

The university has more than 7,000 students, including over 2,000 international students from around 60 different countries. Its teaching staff consists of about 700 highly qualified professionals, among whom there are more than 120 Doctors of Sciences and over 500 Doctors of Philosophy (PhDs). This diverse academic community provides students with high-quality education and practical training.

ADMISSIONS & FUNDING OVERVIEW

  • Secondary school certificate / high school diploma with strong performance in sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • Valid passport and translated official documents (as required).
  • Medical health certificate and (in many cases) proof of immunizations, etc.
  • Students must meet the university’s age requirement (often ≥ 17 years by a certain date).

  • The Preparatory / Premedical Course fee (English medium) is approximately $2000 for the early years (rising gradually).

  • Hostel / dormitory / accommodation costs are extra; approximate hostel fees are around $1000 per year (or close to that in many sources) for foreign students.
