International Medical University
IMU was established in 2016. It is a non-governmental university but is officially licensed and regulated by Kyrgyzstan’s Ministries of Education, Health, and Justice. The campus is in the capital city, Bishkek. The university has modern diagnostic and treatment hospitals connected for training, clinical bases across the city, and service structures for international students. It implements state educational standards. It offers both English and Russian medium instruction in many programs. The administrative campus is in Bishkek, with scientific and clinical bases for training and practical care.

To be admitted, international students must:
- Have completed secondary school or its equivalent, with strong grades in biology, chemistry, physics
- Submit a valid passport
- Provide academic transcripts or certificates
- Provide medical fitness certificate
- Application form and photographs
- For English medium, proof of English ability or meet criteria set by university
Some admissions may also require entrance assessment or passing certain exams depending on country of origin.
Enrollment Process
After acceptance, students receive an invitation letter. Using that, they apply for a study visa. On arrival they register at IMU, pay tuition for that year, complete formal registration, and get a student ID. Hostel or dormitory allotment is handled through the university’s student affairs or international office. Orientation may be provided.
Tuition fees vary depending on program and medium. For General Medicine (English medium), fees are higher than for Russian medium. Exact amounts are published by the university annually; they are relatively affordable compared to many western medical schools. Hostel, insurance, and cost of living are additional expenses.
