Kyrgyz State Medical University
Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) was founded on 16 April 1939 with one program and 200 students. The foundation of the first higher medical school was laid by professors and teachers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kharkov and Kiev. In 1943 the first graduation of students of the medical institute with the amount of 120 doctors took place.
When it was established the main goal was to introduce mountain medicine to promote modern scientific strength of medical communication. In 1996 by the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic the Institute was reorganized into the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy. On September 25, 2008 by the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy was named after I. K. Akhunbaev.
This modernization added a new updated curriculum since 2000. Currently, KSMA has medical, pediatric, dental faculties, faculty of training of foreign citizens and Institutes of pharmacy, Higher nursing education, Management and public health, Medical school. In addition, there is the Institute of postgraduate education of KSMA, Research Institute of fundamental problems of medicine and biology and the Center for Advancing Training and Continuance Education, Biomedical Laboratory.

MD Program
KSMA has several faculties that cover different areas of medical education. These include:

To apply at KSMA, international students need to provide:
- Completed secondary school certificate with strong grades in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Valid passport.
- Application form with passport-size photographs.
- Medical fitness certificate.
- Secondary school transcripts with official translation.
- Entrance exam in Biology, Chemistry, and English (if required).
Enrollment in Degree
After being accepted, students must:
- Submit original educational documents and certified translations.
- Provide a birth certificate translated into Russian or Kyrgyz.
